WHY CHOOSE MOPAYA?
Most of the private game reserves around the Kruger National
Park offer safaris around their lodge solely in the morning and
afternoon.
In the reserves which
have no enclosures, the
animals are free to roam anywhere, so there is no guarantee off
seeing them because these lodges are not allowed to lead safaris
outside of their concessionary area.
The reserves that have
enclosures can normally guarantee sightings, but the number and
variety of wildlife to be seen is usually not as great, or the
vegetation is too dense for optimum viewing.
At Mopaya, you have the best
chance of seeing the greatest amount of wildlife for the
following reasons:
 |
Around
the lodge there is a secure, private area of 11 km with
more than 45 km of trails. This area enables you to
see up close over one hundred mammals, including: zebra,
wildebeest, giraffe, impala, kudu, nyala, waterbuck,
steenbok, duiker,
warthog, baboons, vervet monkeys, as well as numerous
species of birds and reptiles. |
 |
|
The tracks and enclosure that
separate Mopaya from the rest of the Blyde Olifant
Conservancy (14.000 HA of which is taken up by Mopaya), let us
get to know the habits of lions, leopards and hyenas
around the Lodge. Obviously we can then avoid the areas
they frequent
when on walking safaris, particularly with children, for obvious safety
reasons. |
 |
 |
Mopaya has chosen the
best game reserves in the area in terms of chances of
viewing, up-close sightings and security. All the game
reserves we visit have South Africa's famous 'Big Five' -
lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard.
|
|
|
 |
|
Our open 4x4 safari vehicles
are well-maintained and of good quality. Our professional
rangers maintain contact with one another through radio or
headset so that animal sightings on the reserve can be quickly
communicated.
 |
|
Sometimes our trackers sitting
on the bonnet in the front spot fresh tracks and we go off the
beaten track, following the prints to see the animals up very,
very close... These trips are from half to an hour away
from Mopay. We guarantee amazing experiences and
unforgettable moments.
 |
 |
Thanks to its unique
location and concept, Mopaya boasts the greatest
game-viewing area of all the lodges around the Kruger.
There are over 17 000 hectares of private game reserves at
your disposal, all less than an hour away from Mopaya.

|
Why a visit to South Africa is
not complete without discovering the Kruger National Park...
As big as Corsica, this magnificent wildlife sanctuary of over 2
million hectares is Africa at its grandest, with the kind of
landscapes that formerly stretched from Kenya to the Cape.
 |
|
Twice a week Mopaya visits the
Kruger Park in our own, open, specially fitted 4x4s. Our
French speaking guides know the best parts of the Park to visit
with regard to seasons and the migratory patterns of the animals.
|
 |
 |
Returning to the Lodge,
Mopaya
offers a genuinely intimate experience for a select few -
less than 20 guests in total. The food we serve is
good quality, rich, varied and there is plenty of it,
combining both African and European flavours.
|

|
|
Our
swimming pool is 12.5 m long and is a haven of peace and
tranquillity in the bush. Here, you can relax and refresh
yourself during the hottest hours of the day.
|
 |
| |
|
|
Walking safaris with an
introduction into herbal medicines; night drives after dinner;
dining in the bush around the fire with the howl of a hyena and
the distant roar of a lion. These are just some of the
reasons why your holiday with us in the heart of this great
African wilderness will be an unforgettable one. |
 |
| |
|
 |
Compared to all the other four star lodges near the Kruger
National Park, Mopaya is the only one with such a rich and
varied range of safaris in the Kruger National Park and
surrounding 'Big Five' game reserves. |
|
 |
|
With our
French-speaking guides who will teach all you need to know about
the wildlife; and our family-friendly suites for children from 7
onwards, Mopaya offers you the best value for money of all the
comparable lodges around the Kruger Park.
